PAINT AWAY: Abbots Langley groups suggest ways to keep children busy during pandemic

Published on: 15th April 2020   |   By: Amneet Kaur   |   Category: Uncategorized

Abbots Langley Rocks and Abbots Langley Rainbows Facebook groups are still very active and bringing joy to children during pandemic.

The concept behind the first group is to have children decorate rocks and hide them in their community for others to find.

Whereas with the latter children are encouraged to paint or draw rainbows and display them in their windows. Kids can then post in the appropriate groups pictures of the rainbows and rocks spotted.

Naomi Levy, who set up the two groups said: “It’s so important to keep them busy during this time to keep them off screens, connect them to nature, distract them from the news around them.

“Art is also very therapeutic and expressive. It can help children who are struggling emotionally at this time.

“I have two girls aged eight and ten, so I am always thinking of things to keep them busy and that their friends can join in with. Kids enjoy connecting with their peers and it’s nice to find a way to do so that doesn’t involve a screen, especially during these times when they can’t do it in person.”
