A Turkish restaurant in Chorleywood has offered to give free food to NHS staff workers to help during pandemic.

Mezze Mangal restaurant expressed on social media how grateful they are to the NHS staff and they want to show their appreciation by offering free food to them.

Erol Ilhan, manager of the restaurant said: “I came up with the idea with my friend. After seeing many people clapping for the NHS we decided as we own a restaurant business why don’t we help by giving free food.

“The response was pretty quick around 30 NHS workers came and the majority wanted to help by giving something back but we did not take anything, instead we socialised with them.

“It is very important to show appreciation as they are the ones that are under major stress right now and they might not have the time to make food, therefore we just wanted to help by making their lives a little easier.”

Many people took to social media to thank the manager and described the initiative as a great idea.

NHS staff can pop in the restaurant after their shift, show their badge and get their complimentary take-away dinner.
