Croxley Green Library is gearing up for its annual Summer Reading Challenge – the first time the event will be fully interactive since before the COVID-19 pandemic.
This year, they are working with the Youth Sports Trust and the Reading Agency for the challenge on the theme of ‘Ready, Set, Read!’. This will aim not only to encourage children to read, but also to keep fit and healthy.
With six mascots created by children’s illustrator Loretta Schauer, children can join the team as they navigate a fictional obstacle course together.
Participants set themselves a reading goal and, when this is completed, will receive a certificate, medal and finishing gift. They will also be entered into a prize draw to take part in a creative workshop with Loretta.
The annual challenge takes place every year to address a decline in children’s reading levels during the summer holidays.
Children can sign up for free with their library card at Croxley Green Library. The challenge runs from July 8 to September 2.
