Book-loving Bushey residents can pop in for a browse, a chat and a cup of coffee at a unique community library.
The volunteer-run service, based at North Bushey Baptist Church on Park Avenue, has an extensive range of books available to borrow, including classic novels, detective fiction, romance, non-fiction, autobiography, and children’s books.
The scheme was first set up by local Lib Dem councillors as a mobile service during lockdown, with more than 1,000 books donated by local residents. But you can now visit the library directly, to choose a volume, have a cuppa, and meet other bibliophiles.
Organiser Holly Gunning praised the service.
She said: “The library is a really nice social hub for the community, as well as being the only book-lending facility in north Bushey.”
The library is open from 10am to 12pm on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month. All refreshments and book loans are free.
