OUTRAGE: Abbots Langley pensioner claims housing association is failing residents

Published on: 8th September 2022   |   By: Dean Shaw   |   Category: Uncategorized

An Abbots Langley pensioner has hit out at a housing association for allegedly leaving residents’ homes in disrepair.

The resident, who wishes to remain anonymous, says he has concerns about elderly and vulnerable people who have been treated “badly” by Watford Community Housing (WCH).

He told AbbotsNews: “I moved to my home from another county and the way we get treated here is shocking.

“I reported issues with my bay window roof leaking about nine months ago and now it’s staining the ceiling.

“Roof issues are meant to be classed as an emergency but I’m still waiting.

“I also had a leaking pipe which they came out to look at before telling me they needed to go to the yard. Three months later and they still haven’t come back.

“There have been many other issues which don’t get looked at.

“Some jobs do get done such as gas and electricity checks, but not much beyond that. It’s not right.

“My concern is that other people are being left in terrible conditions. I can’t be the only one and I am worried about vulnerable and elderly people being ignored.

“In my opinion, their contractors are too small to handle the job. WCH should have got a bigger company who can cope. It’s not fair on the residents.

“I’m now calling on others who have had similar issues to speak out. That way we can ensure our homes are being properly cared for when things go wrong.”

WCH has been contacted for comment.
