A Rickmansworth woman has been left shocked after an Arriva bus crashed into her parked car, damaging it, and then drove away without stopping.
Sam Avanzo Windett, who lives on Church Lane, was alerted to the incident by a witness who saw it unfold, having been busy preparing for the arrival of her new-born baby.
Speaking to RickyNews, Mrs Windett said: “It’s been unbelievable. The car was my dad’s, who passed away last year, and we only had it to take me to the hospital since I’m 35 weeks pregnant.
“The baby car seat was in place ready when the bus drove into the passenger side and did a great deal of damage to the car.
“With the bus driver failing to stop after the accident, our insurance claim and police report would have been much harder. Thankfully, the witness kindly provided details and photos.
Hearing from other residents, it sounds like this isn’t the first-time buses have driven into parked cars in Mill End. Church Lane can be difficult to pass in places, but outside our house is one of the wider parts of the road.”
A spokesperson for Arriva said: “We are aware of this incident and can confirm that a full investigation was completed as soon as the incident was reported.
“We take the investigation of all incidents extremely seriously and the safety of our customers and other road users is our top priority.
“The appropriate follow up actions have been carried out as a result of this incident.”
