On your marks for new running courses

Published on: 11th April 2018   |   By: Jason Allen   |   Category: Uncategorized

Women in Hertsmere have the ideal opportunity to take their first steps towards a more healthy lifestyle by participating in a ‘0-5km Learn to Run’ course in Radlett and the surrounding areas.

The eight-week courses, two of which are being offered at a discount rate, aim to help women who are looking to get back into running or beginners looking to become more active.

Participants will start by making gentle progress, from only having to run a total of 60 seconds in the first week, up to running for 30 minutes in the final week.

A supportive group environment will encourage runners to reach that 5km target, while participants can choose from daytime or evening courses.

In Shenley, there will be hour sessions every Tuesday, starting on April 17, while on Fridays in Potters Bar there will be hour sessions from April 20 at 11.15am.

The sessions are organised by Learn to Run, a company based in Hertfordshire which specialises in progressive running and all instructors are Level 3 qualified fitness professionals.

Councillor Caroline Clapper, Portfolio Holder for Leisure, Culture and Health, said: “This is a unique opportunity to get fit and the courses have been planned to ease participants gradually into running.

“The expert coaches will help you to achieve the target of being able to run for 30 minutes by the end of the course and taking part will bring health benefits and enable participants to feel fantastic.”
