Police have highlighted a recent incident where a fraudulent taxi driver in Amersham tried to lie his way out of his vehicle being seized.
Thames Valley Police (TVP) put a picture of the offending vehicle on social media site X. Officers had stopped the vehicle on Thursday, December 7, for a document check as part of the force’s Operation Tutelage initiative.
It was quickly established that the vehicle did not have the correct insurance to operate as a taxi, but the driver tried to claim the rear passenger in the car was a personal friend of his, and he was a simple car trader. This was not the case.
The vehicle was subsequently seized by officers, who also dropped off the innocent passenger at his intended destination.
