A group of six students at the Royal Masonic School in Rickmansworth are preparing to enter their miniature car in the F1 in Schools regional race in Bristol later this month.
The Blitz Racing Team, consisting of 14 and 15 year olds Kate, Mitzi, Emily, Muriel, Sara and Molly, have been working on their gas-powered car for six months.
The miniature car will be 3D printed and painted using specialised spray paints in the coming weeks, before being transported to Bristol for the race. Powered by an eight-gram carbon dioxide canister, the car will speed off at the flick of a button when the race is begun on February 21.
