Two sections of Little Green Lane in Croxley are now closed to traffic following high levels of public support in last year’s consultation.
For the next 18 months, vehicles will not be driven from Sarratt Road to Waterdell House, nor will they traverse the part of the road between 5 Little Green Lane and Little Green Junior School.
Only agricultural vehicles, emergency service vehicles and cyclists will be allowed to use these parts of the lane.
County councillor Chris Lloyd explained: “Back in 2021, former councillor Margaret Hofman presented our petition of over 1,500 signatures to Herts County Council, calling on this muddy country lane that was used by vehicles to be closed off.
“It has taken ages, what with all the committee reports, surveys and consultations necessary to get to this stage. I hope that with residents’ support, the changes made as of March 25 will become permanent after the 18 months’ temporary closure.”
Later this year, resurfacing work will be carried out to improve access for pedestrians and cyclists.
