Apologies for the gap in my blogs.
It’s been a crazily busy past six weeks.
We’ve launched our franchise opportunity VISION and this month sees us celebrate 10 years of My News.
When I look back to how far we’ve come from the early days of the magazine I have to confess to feeling immensely proud.
What started out as me moaning in a pub has developed over the years and is now a company which produces 15 monthly magazines, which are delivered to more than 90,000 homes and has a readership of more than 250,000 people.
Our first edition of My Abbots News hit the streets in April 2006. I had no idea it would become so popular I just wanted to come up with a way for the village where I lived to feel informed about what was really happening in it.
That was and still is the goal. We will report on the good, bad and the ugly sides of local life. We’re not perfect by any means but we always work hard to produce balanced magazines which reflect the areas we publish in.
During those ten years I’ve worked alongside some fantastic people. There have been highs and lows, tears and tantrums and a hell of a lot of laughs.
The highlights include winning Most Inspirational Business Owner of the Year for the past two years from the Association of Independent Magazine Publishers.
But one of the things that makes me feel we’ve really played our part in community life is the My Heroes awards we’ve organised.
The evenings have raised thousands of pounds for local charities and good causes and have been a fantastic way to give the most selfless and community minded people in our neighbourhoods a real platform to be honoured.
We’ve got a few special things lined up to mark our tenth year so watch this space.
Thanks for reading the blogs and the magazines and here’s to the next ten years.
Cheers
Nik
