Hero is one of the most overused words in the English language.
It doesn’t take much for the mass media or the legions on social media to dub someone a hero.
But I’ve been lucky enough to meet dozens of people over the years that richly deserve the hero accolade.
With that in mind here’s a date for your diary.
Friday 2nd December.
On that evening at The Grove Hotel in Watford the team at My News will be honoured to host the fourth My Heroes Awards Evenings.
I’ve always been proud that our magazines support the communities they serve.
And our proudest achievement during the ten years we’ve been in publication is the three My Heroes Awards we have organised to highlight some of the great people within those areas.
The evenings are always memorable, inspiring and emotional and they shine a light on the unseen heroes who tread quietly and humbly among us.
In the past we’ve raised raise thousands for local charities and good causes and this tradition will continue this year.
There’s a lot of hard work to be done to organise this event and at this stage what we’re looking for is nominations to be considered for the awards.
Categories include Neighbour of the Year, Parent of the Year, Child of Courage and several others.
We also have some fabulous sponsorship and PR opportunities for companies that want to get involved.
If it’s anything like the previous years (which I’m 100 per cent sure it will be) it promises to be a fantastic evening and one that will live long in the minds of all who attend.
