Watford Borough Council’s new councillor for Meriden Ward has spoken about her passion for the community.

Councillor Annalisa Buraglio Molteni was asked by Elected Mayor of Watford Peter Taylor to be the Liberal Democrat candidate for the ward back in September of last year.

Over the subsequent months, she campaigned hard and canvassed local residents, even clocking up 14 miles of walking the day before the local elections on Thursday, May 2.

Speaking to Garston News, cllr Molteni said: “The election was only the beginning; the real work starts now!

“I have a lot to do and a lot to learn, but I feel confident and supported by a range of experienced councillors. We are a team.”

Cllr Molteni moved to the UK from Italy in 2013 and has lived in Garston since 2015. She is probably best known to residents for running the Meriden foodbank.

As a local councillor, she says that her biggest priority is to connect with the community.
