The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital based (RNOH) in Stanmore opened a new day surgery unit recently.
The new adult day surgery unit formally opened, continuing the hospitals commitment to improving patient care and clinical facilities on the site.
It has been the hospitals trust’s ambition to have a dedicated Day Surgery Unit for some time, and the moment is “finally here”.
The new adult day surgery unit consists of 14 beds, which will be open Monday to Friday from 7am – 9pm and will enhance the hospitals’ ability and capacity to treat more patients in a dedicated setting by delivering safe, efficient, and timely care.
This day surgery builds on the success in increasing the number of day cases going through the short stay unit since December 2021 and ensures that the day surgery pathways deliver excellent experiences and outcomes for the patients.
A spokesperson for the RNOH said: “This is just the latest development in the100 year history of the RNOH at Stanmore. More to come.
“Many teams have been involved across several clinical divisions in making this vision happen, and we want to say a big thank you to all involved.”
