New memos show Khan decided to back out of TFL project last September

New information released by the Liberal Democrats showed London Mayor Sadiq Khan decided to back out of the Metropolitan Line Extension last September unless extra funding was secured.

Steven Giles Medhurst, Lib Dem leader on Herts County Council, said political parties need to unite and persuade Mayor Khan to back the project.

He said: “So despite WBC, HCC and Richard Harrington MP securing a extra £73.4m plus a land deal worth another £40m  extra the Mayor of London still refuses to help deliver the project. This blows out of the water totally Labours claim about lack of government support .”

He commented: “It is time for Watford Labour party to back Watford and Herts residents and help us persuade TfL and Mayor Khan to complete this essential infrastructure project for benefit of all our residents and not defend Mayor Khan’s decision.  I understand that Mayor Dorothy Thornhill has secured a further meeting with TfL on Friday to further this case.

“The battle is far from over which why we also have an on line petition at www.tinyurl.com/metlinepetition.”
