A new chapter has begun for Bridge Street Gardens as funding has officially been secured for a community-led replanting scheme.
This marks a significant milestone in the ongoing regeneration of this previously neglected green space in Pinner.
The initiative, developed in collaboration with Harrow Council and led by a volunteer group as part of the Friends of Pinner Village Gardens, aims to revitalise the site with a focus on biodiversity, accessibility and community engagement.
The replanting scheme, which is now fully funded thanks to local councillors and the Pinner Association, has been designed to enhance the garden’s visual appeal while supporting pollinators and native species.
Glyn Watkins, who has been instrumental in coordinating the project, told Pinnernews: “This is a huge step forward. The funding allows us to move from planning to action, and we’re excited to see the gardens flourish once again.”
The scheme includes new perennial beds designed for year-round interest, a wildlife area to encourage pollinators to visit, and refurbished street furniture with repainting of the bollards and improved lighting.
The project has already received strong support from Harrow Council’s Green Team and Harrow Litter Pickers.
Now, the role of volunteer head gardener has been created to lead ongoing maintenance and volunteer coordination. You can contact the group directly on their Facebook at www.shorturl.at/oIVLH if you are interested in the role.
The replanting will begin in phases over the coming months, with updates shared through Facebook and local newsletters. Pinner residents are encouraged to get involved and help maintain this historic garden.
