The construction of a block of six three-bed terraced houses in the car park of the former Bushey Medical Centre has sparked objections from residents.
In 2021, similar plans had been given the green light but the homes were not built. The new plans, submitted in 2023, include an extra bedroom in the roof space.
On Thursday, October 10, the committee was asked to consider the proposal because of the impact the houses could have on neighbouring properties.
Some concerns included direct overlooking and loss of privacy, insufficient parking, and detrimental visual impact.
Sixteen letters of objection were received by the council, including concerns that the houses will be out of character for the surrounding areas, could increase flooding, and that they will not be affordable.
One general comment said the proposal should make appropriate provision for integrated birdboxes.
Despite these objections, councillors have recommended the approval of the plans as they are not “materially more harmful when compared to the extant permission”.
At the meeting on Thursday, October 10, the application was deferred until details for a Site Maintenance and Management plan are submitted and approved by the Local Planning Authority.
The developers and councillors have been contacted for comment. Updates to follow.
