NEW HOMES: Plans submitted to convert commercial units in Bushey into flats

Published on: 12th December 2024   |   By: The Newsdesk   |   Category: Uncategorized

Plans have been submitted to turn commercial units in Bushey into four flats.

Evans & Crawley Chartered Surveyor want to convert a photography studio and salon in Sparrows Herne, where the leases are about to end, into four one-bed homes.

It will also utilise living space above the commercial units and the applicant plans to convert the loft into habitable space.

If plans are approved, they will also remove two chimneys, create two rear dormers, add front and rear roof lights, and install new access stairs to a rear car park as well cycle and bin storage areas.

The application, which was submitted on Monday, October 21, does not yet have a target date for a decision to be made.

Eleven public objections have been submitted on the application. At the time of writing, there was one neutral comment and no comments of support.

Of the organisations consulted, Hertfordshire County Council (HCC) provided its views on the impact the plans would have on local roads.

A spokesperson said: “HCC as highway authority has considered the proposal and concludes that it would not give rise to an unacceptable impact on the safety or operation of the surrounding highway.”

In a letter submitted alongside the plans, the applicant says: “What we are proposing is what has already been approved to the adjacent buildings in terms of use, conversion, proposals and sizing.

“Residential flats are now the predominant use in the vicinity and commercial units in this location are not desirable.”

The plans can be viewed on Hertsmere’s planning portal by searching reference 24/1361/FUL.
