NEW EVENT: St Albans musician launches therapy show for those with special needs

Published on: 22nd March 2023   |   By: Nik Allen   |   Category: Uncategorized

A St Albans musician has launched an interactive music-based therapy show designed for adults with special needs or mental health issues.

Alex Scott, who is also a songwriter and author, has been part of the local music scene for many years, performing gigs and organising events.

But more recently, due to personal circumstances, he’s become involved in playing music for those with issues such as dementia and severe autism.

With more time on his hands due to recently retiring from business, he’s launched a special show that mixes entertaining music with therapy, set to be played at care homes and care centres run by Hertfordshire County Council.

Alex said: “Since I started doing the show, the reaction has been remarkable, so I am rolling it out to a wider audience, playing all across Hertfordshire, North London and Essex.

“Music is renowned for breaking through barriers in the mind and invoking responses that stimulate awareness, joy, and happiness even in the most extreme cases of adults with mental health issues, dementia and special needs.”
