Harrow Councillors Keith Ferry, Barry Kendler and board members visited Belmont United Football Club to see the progress of the new club house which will be completed in time for the new football season in September 2015. Work on the clubhouse started a year ago and once complete it will house changing facilities, a medical room, a café and an observation balcony for spectators. Belmont United Football Club was formed in 1972 and has been running youth football teams ever since. The new facilities will allow the club to start more football teams for boys and girls from age of 6 to 16. Deputy leader of Harrow Council, Councillor Keith Ferry said: “I have followed the works at Belmont United Football Club closely and it was great to see the progress they have made. The club is a vital part of the community providing high quality football training for young children across the borough. This new club house will be a great addition to the area for all residents. “I look forward to watching football in the completed stand in September and hope the club can produce the next generation of footballers.” The clubhouse will also be available for use by the wider community, of all ages, for sports and recreational purposes. The club is a 43 year old charity and founded in 1972 by the late Bill Dempsey. With no organised football in Harrow for young people Bill helped to set up Belmont United Youth Football Club to support youth football for those aged 14 and under. The club strives to serve the community and continues to support young people through sports. It currently runs 8 football teams from under 8s to under 14s. Following on this success and with the new club house about to open, the club will add further teams for boys and girls aged from under 6 to 16 years.
