New planting and facilities are part of the improvements taking place at Garston Park.
The changes happening at the park include upgrading the children’s play area, building a new small skate park and improving walkways.
There are also plans for more trees to be planted to add to Watford’s tree canopy, currently 18.2 per cent, which is higher than the national average of 16 per cent.
Along with this, a new wildflower meadow will be created.
Watford Council is making these changes to reduce the carbon footprint, and it is asking residents their opinion on these schemes and to suggest ideas that could help improve the sustainability of Watford.
Elected Mayor of Watford, Peter Taylor said: “I am delighted that we have started work on our improvements to Garston Park, an important manifesto commitment of mine. This is part of our ongoing commitment to keep improving parks and green spaces in Watford for children and adults alike to enjoy. “
