The owner of a beer shop in Little Chalfont has been running Zoom beer-tasting sessions with customers during lockdown and he brought a local authour in to read from his new book.
Shop owner Mick French asked Paul Waters, author of the new crime thriller Blackwatertown to come in and entertain regulars.
Drinkers were treated to a series of beers chosen to match the themes of the book – action, love, secrets and betrayal.
Speaking to ChalfontsNews, Paul said: “It was a clever idea of Mick’s to combine beer and books, the conversation definitely got a lot livelier as listeners moved through their ales. And it was a thrill for me to see that some of them had copies of Blackwatertown alongside their pints.”
Paul is also being backed by the Deli in Chalfont St Giles, where you can buy copies of the book with your baguette and latte.
He added: “It’s made all the difference having local support, retailers have had their own problems during lockdown, but Mark at The Deli has a great help even before Blackwatertown was published and I’ve been lucky enough to stage a supporters’ cream tea at Milton’s Cottage Museum in Chalfont St Giles.”
