Published on: 2nd July 2025   |   By: Nik Allen   |   Category: Uncategorized

From big civic celebrations to smaller community events, outgoing Mayor of Harrow councillor Salim Chowdhury has shared his goodbyes after an “incredible year”.

Cllr Chowdhury left the role last month, having championed his theme of ‘unity and diversity’ by attending more than 700 engagements across the borough during his time in office.

From big events like Remembrance Sunday to visits to local schools, cllr Chowdhury has “had pleasure to join people from all backgrounds and faiths and celebrate with them on their holy days”.

Upon his departure, cllr Chowdhury said: “Everyone I have spoken to has an inspiring story and I am proud to live among people and groups who make Harrow a special place.

“Thank you to everyone who has also supported my chosen charity, London’s Community Kitchen.”

Taking over the reins as the new Mayor of Harrow is councillor Anjana Patel. Cllr Patel is the borough’s first British Tanzanian/Indian-born Mayor and has selected the theme of ‘kindness, caring and respect’ for her year in office.
