Big Fish, a musical based on Daniel Wallace’s novel and Tim Burton’s 2003 film, is coming to the Pump House in Watford.
Performed by the award-winning Rickmansworth Players from May 6 to 10, the cast of Big Fish are busy rehearsing to bring this story of adventure and romance to life.
The musical follows the journey of Edward Bloom, a charming storyteller who has spent his life recounting fantastical tales of adventure and romance. Set in the American South, the story shifts between Edward’s imaginative past and his relationship with his son, Will, in the present.
As Edward shares his past, the audience is taken on a whimsical journey through larger-than-life events, including encounters with a witch, a giant, a mermaid, and a circus. His stories also include his whirlwind romance with Sandra, and the many extraordinary situations he claims to have experienced.
On their website, Rickmansworth Players said: “It’s not very often in musical theatre circles that you get to do a new and exciting show that has rarely been done by amateurs… or professionals either for that matter!”
Ensemble member Katie Robson said: “We are all having lots of fun rehearsing for this show and the ensemble are particularly enjoying learning and perfecting their circus tricks for one of the musical numbers! Grab your tickets so you don’t miss out on witches, werewolves and an 8ft giant. Those are just a few of the fantastic characters that can be seen throughout the story of Big Fish.”
