NEIGHBOUR CLASH: Two businesses in Radlett fall out over proposals to build parking barrier

Published on: 3rd October 2025   |   By: Naomi Greenaway   |   Category: Uncategorized

A Radlett shop owner has shared his upset with RADLETTnews over plans to build a barrier to divide the shared parking space outside his business.

Colin, who has owned Radlett Tech on Watling Street since August 2020, expressed his concern with his new neighbours, IHandi.

Both shops share parking as Colin’s business is via a basement on the busy Watling Street.

Colin has claimed that IHandi’s actions are intended to “destroy [his] business”, alleging that proposals to install a barrier in the shared rear parking space are an attempt to drive him out.

The situation reportedly escalated when IHandi’s owner complained that dust from other vehicles in the shared car park was dirtying his car.

He also raised concerns about customer access, claims Colin described as false, and stated that this was the reason a barrier was being built.

Colin said: “I love to fix things and help people because I enjoy helping, but this is upsetting to me because it feels like they are using every trick in the book to push me out the door.

“I am a Radlett-born man and opened a business in Radlett because it’s my home.”

IHandi have disputed these claims and told RADLETTnews that the situation has been handled through the correct and legal channels.

A spokesperson for IHandi said: “These issues were escalated only after repeated problems with blocked access to our rear entrance.

“Customers from Radlett Tech have been using our side of the car park due to limited access on their side, which has caused significant disruption, including damage to our vehicles from loose gravel.

“We have always followed the legal process and acted transparently. The barrier proposal is simply to create a clear separation of access so that both businesses can operate smoothly without inconvenience.”
