National Recognition for Watford Hospital Staff

Two doctors who are part of the West Herts Hospital Trust have been nationally recognised for going above and beyond for patients. Dr Tammy Angel and Nurse Chloe Cameron, who both work on the Bluebell Ward at Watford General Hospital, will have their work showcased as a part of a national project from the Department of Health recognising staff who have gone above and beyond, and will be featured as a case study to inspire other people working within the NHS. Deputy Director of the Reducing Premature Mortality Programme, Jazz Bhogal, wrote to Dr Angel and Ms Cameron last week congratulating them on their achievement. He said: “I would like to congratulate you both for the excellent work you have been doing on Bluebell Ward at Watford General Hospital to promote health and wellbeing in Watford. You were nominated for your work by Richard Harrington, Member of Parliament for Watford, because your knowledge, expertise and support are fantastic assets to your community, and your enthusiasm goes beyond expectations. “ Mr Harrington said he was incredibly impressed when he met them at Watford General and is delighted that they are receiving recognition for their hard work. He said: “Tammy and Chloe are great, they really do go above and beyond for patients who are suffering normally with a host of quite complex conditions as well as dementia. Moreover they always seek to ensure that their patients have the best all round care, as well as receiving the treatment they need to get better. There are hundreds of people working in the NHS in Watford who consistently go above and beyond – but I’m pleased that today two of Watford’s finest have been recognised.” The pair work on the Bluebell Ward, which was officially opened last year and specialises in care for those with dementia. It features a dementia garden on site, at Watford General, which also opened last year and allows patients to have more of an ‘at home’ feel during their stay in Hospital as this can often be for longer periods of time – as well as enabling them to get a bit of fresh air outside of the ward. The brand new Bluebell ward is part of the new Granger Suite, which is also home to the new Winyard Ward. Most recently, Tudor Ward and Castle Ward were also opened at the Vicarage Road site.
