New Watford loanee James Hoskins kept a clean sheet in his debut between the Woods’ posts this afternoon (Saturday, September 7) as a second-half goal saw off Ashford Town.
Northwood were the visitors in the Velocity Trophy Group 8 tie and 18-year-old Hoskins was trusted to start by the Woods boss Scott Dash despite only signing for an initial 28-day period yesterday.
After an incredibly uneventful first half, Hoskins made his first stop from a Noakes header in the 50th minute.
There was a chance at either end in the 71st minute, initially Perch drove a decent chance wide of the Woods goal, then Charlie Hayford squandered a chance across the pitch.
But Northwood took the lead just two minutes later thanks to a Louis Bircham tap-in.
Ashford nearly grabbed an equaliser in the dying embers but Northwood held on for a much-needed victory.
