A humble hero from Bushey has been nominated for the upcoming mylocalHERO awards.
Dr Eric Sanderson has been put forward by his wife Adrienne for the Above and Beyond category after he requalified as a general practitioner at the age of 73.
Despite retiring 10 years ago, Dr Sanderson grew concerned about the NHS and patient care during the initial COVID-19 lockdowns and was one of the first to put his name forward to help.
Adrienne said: “He was concerned about all the pressure building on doctors. He sat all the exams and had to wait six months to be approved – he is far more patient than me!”
By January 2021, Dr Sanderson had become a licensed GP.
Now aged 76, he assists a number of practices across Hertfordshire.
Adrienne added: “He is always happy to help anyone and really takes care of his patients. I know I’m biased, but people really love him!
“He really deserves this recognition.”
The mylocalHERO awards are set to be hosted in November 2024.
