A Bovingdon-based taxidermist has a unique claim to fame involving mud, movie stars, and pigs. Before becoming a taxidermist, Simon Wilson worked as a freelance animal wrangler at Leavesden Studios.
On Monday, January 12, Simon shared that one assignment took him to the set of Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason, where he worked on the famous pig scene.
He told KINGSnews: “We had around 10 to 15 pigs. For the first week there was no film crew. It was about acclimatisation, routine and letting the animals feel at home.”
The pigs did what pigs do best, Simon explained: “They turned the entire pen into absolute mud.” That mud claimed actress Renée Zellweger.
Simon told KINGSnews: “She got stuck and couldn’t move; she was laughing while the pigs got overexcited around her.”
He added: “I watched Black Beauty being filmed there as a kid. Coming back years later to work on a film felt full circle.”
