One of the largest-ever editions of the annual Croxley Green Home & Produce Show took place last month, with a total of 533 entries.
Hundreds of residents descended on Yorke Mead School on Saturday, September 13, with 86 different exhibitors showcasing a wide variety of vegetables, fruit, florals, craft items and more.
Several new entrants competed alongside regulars, with two in particular standing out from the crowd.
Stanley Walker, 10, won the coveted Colin Lucas trophy for the heaviest marrow. Not only did he win against all of the adult entrants, he also beat the previous winner, his own grandfather!
Meanwhile, Jacob Roberts, seven, was victorious in the Harold Barton Novice Cup for Flowers and Vegetables.
Show secretary John Jowers said: “We had record takings on the day, for which we must thank the many exhibitors and visitors who bought raffle tickets and refreshments.”
The show is a stalwart village event and has been held annually since 1919.
Organisers are already looking ahead to the next show, which will take place on Saturday, September 13, 2025.
