A Bushey resident has published his debut novel about an ordinary man finding himself in an extraordinary situation.

Oliver Kenton has lived in Bushey for 17 years and is a creative director for a global digital agency. Having dabbled in writing for many years, he was complaining to a friend about his writer’s block when the idea for a new story came to him.

He explained: “My friend dared me to just write something without worrying about writing a book in particular. That’s when I got this funny idea about a completely ordinary person with no real skills, finding themselves in the middle of a plot involving the US government and a secret technology project.

“Action novels tend to feature characters who are ex-military, but Leon is just a normal person. I thought that would provide a lot of humour.”

Midnight Run follows Leon Aronofsky who, after passing out at an office party, wakes up alone to find he’s trapped in the building. He soon discovers that the company he works for is a front for a secret technology project so out of this world that the US government is trying to kill him for it.

Oliver says feedback has been very positive and revealed that he already has a sequel in the pipeline.

The book is available to buy on Amazon.
