Residents in Moor Park are concerned that those living in the neighbourhood’s conservation area are ignoring the district council’s planning rules.
The entire private residential estate comes under one of 22 conservation areas managed by Three Rivers District Council (TRDC).
A conservation area ruling designates a place as one of special architectural and historic interest, worthy of protection. In Moor Park, that refers to homes built between the 1920s-1950s, some of the area’s trees and the roads, amongst other items.
However, some residents have expressed concern that others may be ignoring those rules.
One resident, who wished to remain anonymous, spoke to NORTHWOOD&RUISLIPnews, stating: “Some people think they can develop what they want, and the council doesn’t have the resources to do anything about it. It’s a really sorry state of affairs, and I feel for the council.
“Conservation areas are protected by law. However, some people think they are above this law.”
A spokesperson for TRDC said: “We will always use every means at our disposal to enforce planning regulations. The notion that we don’t have the resources to do anything about it is, of course, nonsense.”
