The Elected Mayor of Watford, along with Watford Borough Council, have stepped in to help secure Leggatts Green and Everett Rovers from future traveller incursions.

Watford Borough Council have committed £1000 to help secure the site and Mayor of Watford Peter Taylor has also convinced Taylor Wimpey to provide funding for the works, as they are one of the owners of the land.

The Mayor wrote to Taylor Wimpey on August 2, asking for a contribution to securing the site from traveller incursions. After some initial reluctance, they did also agree to help fund changes to the security at the site.

Elected Mayor of Watford Peter Taylor said, ‘We do not tolerate illegal traveller incursions on our open spaces. We have worked closely with the football club, police and councillors to improve the security of this site.’

‘We are also working with the football club to improve to rebuild their changing facilities and their clubhouse. Everett Rovers are a fantastic community club and a big part of our town. I want to support them in any way I can.’
