A daring Tring resident has completed an international cycling challenge to raise money for an inclusive sport charity.
Matt Kirby co-founded the charity The Arctic One Foundation in 2011 to provide opportunities for those living with disabilities to get involved in sports. Having now completed 295 challenges over the years, Matt has raised more than £10,000 and collected 10,000 food items.
As reported in the September edition of TRINGnews, this year Matt has taken on the challenge of raising £5,000 and collecting 5,000 food items through a series of hair-raising challenges.
In September, Matt completed a 2,100km cycle from London to Rome via Paris, Geneva, Monte Carlo and Pisa in 20 days.
Speaking to TRINGnews, Matt said: “It was extremely wet for about 14 days!”
On Saturday, December 14, the adventurous local will hike the 160km Isle of Man coastal path to reach his target.
To raise funds, Matt has been hosting weekly auctions on his social media and collecting food items at various locations around Tring, Chesham, and Amersham, including The Dunsley Farm Shop and PAMS Sandwich Bar. So far, he has collected more than 2,000 food items.
