Police were called to an address in Rodney Avenue on Sunday following reports of a man making threats.
Both parties are believed to be known to each other.
Police attended and arrested a man on suspicion of affray and threats to kill.
Shah Ali, aged 30 from Rodney Avenue, St Albans, has been charged with using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour to cause harassment, alarm or distress.
He has been bailed to court and will appear at St Albans Magistrates’ Court.
