Devastated family pay tribute to ‘amazing mum’

Published on: 6th February 2019   |   By: Jake Levison   |   Category: Uncategorized

Tributes have been paid to a Hemel mother who was found dead last month.

Luz Margory Isaza Villegas, mother of three, who was the “core of her family”, will be missed by all, say family and friends.

Luz had a “heart full of love, was always smiling” and will be missed by everyone who knew her said son, Julian, 29, and daughter, Ana Marie, 25.

When speaking to HemelNews, they said: “Our mum was always smiling, she lit the fire in our hearts. She was always laughing, full of compassion, kindness and love.

“She taught us to be positively charged. She created a household that she always wished for as a little girl. Growing up without mum or dad, she was an orphan that by the grace of the universe, received unconditional love from her beloved Nan, ‘Mama Ana’.

“We give thanks to such a wonderful mum with such a big heart. She was blessed by the stars, the sun and the moon. We want to celebrate her like the Queen she was.”

One of Luz’s closest friends, Daniella Rios, described her as the “core of her family”.

She said: “Twenty years ago I met Luz and her family on their arrival from a hectic Columbian city. From the beginning, I realised what a strong, happy and fantastic mother she was.

“Maryo (as I called her) was always, in my eyes, the core of her family. She taught her kids to read, to be polite and to conquer their fears. It hurts so much to know that she won’t be here for another sunrise, snow day or sunset, or just a laughter.

“RIP my dear friend.”

Maryo, originally from Columbia, was known by many as the mum “who cooked the best Columbian food” according to family friend, Stephanie Pereira.

She said: “I have memories of Margory from when I was young. She was always the mum who cooked the best Columbian food. She was proud of her home and most of all her three children. She was strong, independent and was the most dedicated mother.”

A man has since been charged with her murder.

Rodrigo Alberto Giraldo Tascon, 55, from Ritcroft Street in Hemel Hempstead, appeared via a video link at St Albans Crown Court on January 21 and was charged with her murder and preventing a lawful and proper burial.

Any information about the death of Luz can be reported online at herts.police.uk/report or speak to one of our operators in the Force Communications Room via web chat.
