A Stanmore man who threatened a shopkeeper with a sword has been imprisoned for five years.

Sajithren Balamohan, 24, of Thistlecroft Gardens threatened staff with an 18-inch sword before stealing cash, alcohol and cigarettes from the shop in Streatfield Road in October 2018.

Metropolitain Police have now released horrifying footage of an armed robbery in Harrow which took place last year.

Terrifying footage of the incident has been circulated by the Met on social media and shows a member of staff being pushed backwards as Balamohan raises a huge blade before taking items from the shop without paying.

Police were called at around 7.50am on October 6 to reports of a robbery at a shop on Streatfield Road, Harrow.

Balamohan was arrested later that same day and charged with making threats to kill, robbery and possession of an offensive weapon.

He was sentenced for the crime at Harrow Crown Court.
