Aldenham Parish Council will soon be submitting plans for an application to put a Cafe at the Phillimore Recreation Ground.
After residents contacted Councillor and Deputy Leader at Hertsmere Borough and Deputy Cabinet Member at Hertfordshire County, Caroline Clapper over the years requesting a Cafe in the park, Aldenham Parish Council will be putting forward the planning application which has not yet been submitted.
Residents of Radlett believe the case in the park would “add to the enjoyment of usage and would bring more people to the park”.
Despite many being in favour of the café, some residents object to any building and feel that park users should “walk down to the High Street for any refreshments or food”.
This application will be determined by the Planning Committee, but cllr Clapper would like to seek as many views as possible about the principle of this application.
Cllr Clapper said: “After years of requests from residents, I am pleased to now see proposals coming through from the Parish to enhance the Rec with a Cafe. Hopefully this new provision will enhance the park and bring with it new visitors, so that more people can see the wonderful park Radlett has to offer and stay to enjoy the facilities for longer. Obviously this proposal needs to go through the proper planning process and will ultimately be decided on the merit of the application. Philimore Rec is a great park already and I would personally welcome any further improvements that would enhance the park experience for the residents of Radlett.”
