Borussia Monchengladbach have announced the signing of highly rated winger Keanan Bennetts from Tottenham in a deal rumoured to be worth about £2million.
The 19-year-old local boy has signed a four-year deal, having failed to make a single senior appearance for Spurs. It is hoped the move to Germany will boost the youngster’s chances of playing top-flight football.
He follows Jadon Sancho, Ademola Lookman and Reece Oxford who all played in the Bundesliga this season.
Bennetts, who can play as either a left winger or at left-back, has impressed for Tottenham’s development squad over the past two seasons but has not been able to catch the eye of first-team boss Mauricio Pochettino.
Speaking excitedly on his Twitter account, Bennetts said: “New chapter starts now. I would like to thank my family and my agent for all the support in making this deal possible. But most of all, thank you to Borussia Mönchengladbach for the opportunity and I can’t wait to get started! #diefohlen #fohlenelf”
