All-day free parking at a busy Berkhamsted car park could come to an end as part of new plans from Dacorum Borough Council (DBC).
Following proposals DBC initially put forward in a cabinet paper in December of last year, which was then amended in February, changes are being proposed to parking spaces across the borough.
This includes Canal Fields car park. Currently, anyone can park in the bays free of charge for any length of time. If these new proposals go ahead, free parking in the car park would be limited to a maximum of four hours between 8am and 6pm.
The plans initially included a proposal to remove the limited wait bays on the edge of Berkhamsted High Street, but this has now been withdrawn following backlash from residents.
The final decision regarding these proposed changes is set to be made in June or July. If they are approved, then the new tariffs and policies will be implemented across Dacorum from November.
