Plans have been submitted to turn Langleybury Mansion and surrounding parkland, located next to the M25 and Warner Bros. Studios, into a filming facility.
The existing site is home to a children’s farm, which would be relocated to a new plot if the application is approved.
The mansion is Grade II* listed and situated on green belt land.
Langleybury has a long and storied history, having been constructed in 1711 as a stately home. From 1947 to 1996, it served as a school. Since then, it has stood vacant, apart from filming work.
A design statement by the developer, Ralph Trustees Ltd, reads: “Langleybury Mansion remains an ideal, flexible blank canvas site for any period-based filming project.
“The overall intention is to create a film hub like no other – one which builds upon the rich history of the Langleybury site and in a manner which is sensitive to the beautiful historic landscape.”
A spokesperson for Three Rivers District Council (TRDC) said: “Council planning officers are currently considering a planning application at this site. All documents are available to view online and any comments submitted will be considered as part of the decision making process and reported to the committee in due course.”
