The strong community spirit of Mill Way in Bushey is shining through once more with a Christmas-themed project in order to lift the spirits of neighbours and passers-by.
The street has turned into a life-sized advent calendar for December, with 25 houses taking part in the unique Christmas display for all to enjoy.
After setting up a street WhatsApp group earlier in the year as a result of the pandemic, residents have done many things to show a sense of togetherness, including their VE Day celebrations, and this is just another example.
One resident saw something similar happening in Berkhamsted and thought it would be an excellent idea to bring to Mill Way.
Michelle Porte Davies decided to ask in the WhatsApp group if anybody would be interested and within the next 24 hours, 25 people said they wanted to join in.
Speaking to BusheyNews, Michelle said: “I thought it was a fantastic idea! All you had to do is decorate your window with a theme and each day leading up to Christmas, one would be revealed. It took some time and effort, but it was well worth it and has received a lot of attention.
“It is amazing to see the reaction of everyone else, whether they are people passing by or people who live on the street. Its made people even more excited for the festive period.
“Its just a way to lift the spirts of everyone to be honest, and to bring everyone together once again. It has been a difficult year for everyone.”
Each of the 25 houses have been revealing their design and themes during December, with Michelle’s house being the opener, in the last weekend of November.
Michelle urges residents to come by for the last few reveals, with the last of them being on Christmas Eve at approximately 6pm.
She added: “Come along to see the reveal, or any time in December you can walk up and down the street spotting the numbers in order. They are scattered the whole length of the street! We hope you enjoy the display.”
