Jo Swinson MP, Liberal Democrat Deputy Leader was in Watford last week to support Peter Taylor’s campaign to be the next Mayor of the town.
Jo Swinson, MP for East Dunbartonshire, followed in the footsteps of Sir Vince Cable, the party Leader, who also visited Watford recently to give their backing to Peter, who is looking to succeed fellow Liberal Democrat Dorothy Thornhill who is stepping down after 16 years.
Speaking at a special event for Liberal Democrat supporters in Watford last week, Jo Swinson praised the party’s record locally.
Jo said, “I know that Dorothy Thornhill and the Liberal Democrat team in Watford have an impressive record. They have turned the town around, focusing on delivering excellent local services, making sure residents get value for money and supporting a growing local economy. I’m backing Peter Taylor to be Watford’s next mayor as he has the right values and ability to make the town an even better place to live.”
Peter Taylor said, “It was fantastic to have Jo visit Watford and give her the chance to see what we have delivered locally. She also told us how female MPs of all parties were working together in a robust approach to what was seen to be an all-male club in the House of Commons and encouraged us to ensure moreyoung people were able to get involved in politics to make a difference to our society. I’m delighted that she recognised the work we have done locally to keep Watford moving forward.
The Liberal Democrats can be trusted to deliver for our town.”
