A second-half goal for Dagenham & Redbridge’s Angelo Balanta was enough for them to take all three points against Wealdstone yesterday evening, despite a spirited performances from newly promoted Stones.
Manager Dean Brennan named an unchanged starting eleven to the side that drew against Yeovil Town in midweek.
Both sides had their early chances, with Jerome Okimo’s headed effort missing the target, while Stones’ ‘keeper Harry Isted was forced into early action with two saves from Balanta and Mitch Brundle.
The first half was controlled by Dagenham in the main, and deserved to go ahead in the second half through Balanta’s left-footed effort which was too powerful for Isted to reach. 1-0
Wealdstone rallied in their search for an equaliser, and the home side’s goalkeeper, Elliot Justham, had to make a big save in the last minute of the game when a header was powered towards him, but he somehow kept it out.
Dagenham held on for all three points in the end but Wealdstone will no doubt take positives from another difficult away game, before making the return to Grosvenor Vale on Tuesday when they welcome Stockport County.
