Chalfont St Peter let a 2-1 lead slip against top of the table side Harlow Town in the Isthmian League South Central Division this afternoons game at Mill Meadow (October 26).

The Saints were gifted a remarkable lead thanks to Harlow defender Oliver Gnandi in the 41st minute, a cross was whipped into the middle of the box and Gnandi put a leg out, the ball hit his thigh and flew in the air and then into the bottom corner of his own net, leaving his goalkeeper helpless.

Harlow were quick to bounce back, and Terrell Egbri equalised for the team from Essex just minutes later.

Chalfonts Luke Illsley quickly fired home a second goal for The Saints in added time in the first half to give his side a 2-1 lead.

Their lead was short lived as Terrell Egnbri got his second goal of the game for the away side to bring the game level in the 61st minute. Just when it looked like the Saints were going to be taking a hard-earned point from the game Miles Mitchell-Nelson scored in the 93rd minute to steal all three points for Harlow Town

Chalfonts Luke Elliot tweeted: “Win as a team lose as a team, bounce back ability next Saturday.”

Next week The Saints will travel to Uxbridge FC on November 2, who sit in 8th place just below them for their next Isthmian league match.
