A Watford-based business has been nominated for Simply Business’s Britain’s Best Small Business Name 2025. The winner will be determined by public vote.
Lawn and Order offers garden maintenance and improvement, fencing installation, and jet washing.
Speaking to Watford News, James Airey, founder of Lawn and Order, said: “So many people have contributed to making our business what it is; my partner came up with the name after watching Law and Order on television, my friend drew the logo over a beer.
“To think it’s snowballed from there to being nominated for an award like this is incredible.”
The winning business will receive a cash prize and a trophy.
James added: “I would put the money back into the business, hopefully giving my hardworking staff a bonus – I might even take my wife to the cinema!
“Without my wife and staff, the business wouldn’t be successful. A name and logo is great but it’s the output we offer that keeps people coming back. An old boss once told me ‘to be early is to be on time, to be on time is to be late, and to be late is unacceptable’. I live by that.
“As I always say: If your fence or garden is in disorder, give James a call at Lawn and Order.”
James is also a beekeeper, a passion he picked up from his late father-in-law, who was his “best friend, mentor, and teacher”. He has installed beehives in some of his clients’ larger properties, an opportunity he described as “mixing work with pleasure”.
James is set to appear on BBC Three Counties Radio tomorrow, Saturday, June 21, at 4.45pm, to raise awareness for the vote. Members of the public can vote for their favourite business name at www.shorturl.at/obtti until Sunday, June 22.
