Chorleywood Cricket Club (CCC) is looking ahead to a landmark year as it celebrates its 175th anniversary.
The club is thriving and say they’re “in the strongest position it has ever been”, with four Saturday sides, a Sunday team competing in the top regional division and an increasing number of young players in the club.
Victoria Brocklesby, from CCC, said: “Reaching our 175th year is a remarkable milestone and speaks to the club’s deep roots in Chorleywood.
“The sight and sound of cricket on the Common remains a powerful symbol of continuity, community, and home for generations of local people.
“The club is arguably in the strongest position it has ever been. Colts numbers are thriving, ensuring a healthy future and strong links with local families and schools.
“The new pavilion has helped establish a highly successful partnership with Mission Employable, significantly improving the social experience and our ties to the local people for Chorleywood.”
Meanwhile the club has also selected its captains for the 2026 campaign with Callum Scott chosen as first team captain.
Callum is a former Chorleywood Colt who has progressed right through the club.
Over the last three years he has represented Hertfordshire, underlining both his ability and commitment.
A winter stint playing in Australia, combined with newly acquired coaching qualifications, has accelerated his development.
Victoria added: “He is an ideal role model for younger players and someone the whole club is excited to get behind as he continues his journey.”
The club is always in need of umpires and scorers for matches so anyone interested is encouraged to get in touch if you would like to be involved.
