KITCHEN NIGHTMARES: Bushey takeaway given one-star food hygiene rating

Published on: 26th September 2023   |   By: Darius Morgan   |   Category: Uncategorized

A full Food Standards Agency (FSA) report on a takeaway restaurant which recently received a one-star review has been revealed to BUSHEYnews.

As reported last month, an FSA reporter decreed that major improvement was necessary at Chinese takeaway Eat-well.

The report has exposed the restaurant’s mishandling of food as they found uncovered food stored in the walk-in fridge. This can result in cross-contamination and accelerate the deterioration of food.

The restaurant was also found to have poor cleanliness under and around cooking equipment, whilst the floor was described as “very dirty under and behind equipment”.

The report also found: “The main tap to turn the gas on and off was located under the cooking range. For some reason, this had been covered with tinfoil. However, the tinfoil and the adjacent pipework were heavily coated in grease and dirt.

“You are relying on extension leads in the kitchen. Two of them are very dirty and are close to food packaging material. One was hanging down near the plastic containers and another near the paper bags.”

Five members of staff must undertake refresher training courses to ensure issues aren’t recurrent.

Eat-well has been contacted for comment.
