Two Hemel Hempstead charities have received the King’s Award for Voluntary Service.
The Heather Club offers cognitive stimulation, sociability, friendliness, and enjoyment to people living with memory loss and early-stage dementia, as well as respite for carers.
On Thursday, November 14, the charity was delighted to reveal that it had been awarded a King’s Award for Voluntary Service, which celebrates the work of local volunteer groups in the UK.
A spokesperson for the charity said: “This is the highest award a local voluntary group can receive in the UK and is equivalent to an MBE.
“Thank you to all our volunteers and supporters – thank you for your relentless energy and for always going the extra mile. This award is for you.”
Also awarded was the Dacorum Community Trust, which is a small independent charity committed to serving the people of Dacorum.
Trust manager Dena Tyler MBE said: “We are very proud of this award. It is validation of the trust and reputation that we have built within the community of Dacorum.”
