Herts Inclusive Theatre (HIT) has been awarded the King’s Award for Voluntary Service, the highest award a local voluntary group can receive in the UK and equivalent to an MBE.
HIT is dedicated to making performing arts accessible to everyone, including children and adults with disabilities. They offer weekly workshops, holiday activities, and commissioned projects that promote inclusivity, diversity, and community engagement.
HIT is one of 262 local charities, social enterprises and voluntary groups to receive the prestigious award in 2023.
The charity thanked its “wonderful” staff, volunteers, trustees and ambassadors for their commitment over the last 21 years.
Charlott Saunders, development manager for the charity, said: “I couldn’t be more pleased with this fantastic news and I cannot tell you anyone else more deserving than HIT. I have had the pleasure of working with them just under a year and I am truly amazed by their hard work and dedication to our community here in Hertfordshire.”
